The Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration has a great entry level career opportunity located in Spokane, Washington. Effective July 1, 2018, this job will transfer to Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). Come join a new state agency to better serve at-risk children and youth. As the Fiscal Specialist 1, you will assist in the responsibility in administering, processing, and record keeping involved with payroll time and attendance. In the big picture, you will play an active role in ensuring fiscal integrity of information input into the payroll system.
You will provide administrative support in processing, and record keeping involved with payroll time and attendance. Conduct compliance reviews to ensure the accuracy and completeness of information and work to resolve all time and attendance issues under very strict deadlines. Provide consultation and technical assistance on the use and processing of leave. Conduct audits, analysis, and reconciliation of payroll and attendance records and takes corrective action as needed.
**Here's some of what you'll be doing:**
* Provide administrative support in processing and record keeping involved with payroll time and attendance
* Perform regular checks and balances to ensure the accuracy of time and leave transactions between timekeeping and payroll systems
* Use independent judgment and analytical thinking to review, verify and apply rules and regulations as it applies to time and attendance
* Provide consultation and technical assistance regarding processing of time and leave to managers, supervisors, and employees
* Audit, analyze, and reconcile payroll and attendance records
* Investigate and provide problem resolutions in a timely manner on issues related to time and attendance
* Assist employees with time and attendance questions
**What we're looking for:**
* Knowledge of basic accounting practices and the ability to apply practical accounting techniques
* Ability to process large quantities of fiscal data with consistency, accuracy and efficiency within tight deadline
* Excellent time management skills
* Ability to prioritize, organize and manage a large workload
* Experience using payroll and/or time and attendance software programs
* Experience with data-entry with a high level of accuracy
* Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and basic math skills
**Who should apply? **
Professionals with three years of fiscal record keeping work experience.
Education in accounting or a related field may substitute year for year for experience.
